“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”

That means not imposing religious doctrine on the citizens of the US. That means understanding the relativistic view of personal beliefs versus the individuals’ rights. Vice President Biden and Congressman Ryan spoke about the place that faith holds for them in their decision making tonight and the difference couldn’t be clearer to me.

There are two candidates. Both are flawed. However, Romney is inherently dualistic in worldview and President Obama embraces the relativity of the world and has established commitment to his values after weighing the options. He understands the complexity of situations and is able to weigh the consequences of his decisions in the context of the situation.

I’m voting for President Obama because of his commitment based in understanding context. The world cannot be reduced to either/or thinking and I don’t believe that we can afford another president who holds that simplistic worldview.
